A Note on Awards Season — Ours, Naturally
By Madame V— · Autumn 2026
It has not escaped this author's notice that since The Aesthetic announced its inaugural Awards — Top Injector, Top Surgeon, and Top Dermatologist in each of our fifty states — a certain electricity has entered the industry. One might call it ambition. This author calls it Tuesday.
The reports arriving at this desk are delicious. One injector of considerable following has reportedly dispatched flowers to members of the judging panel — a gesture as transparent as it was hydrangea. A surgeon in the Southeast has taken to mentioning his 'philanthropy' in every interview, a word he had not previously been acquainted with. And a med spa in Texas has, quite coincidentally, begun offering champagne.
To all of them, this author offers the same counsel: the panel is unmoved by flowers, unimpressed by adjectives, and entirely unbribable — which is more than can be said for this columnist, who accepts compliments in all currencies.
Nominations close in January, dear readers. Campaign accordingly.
With admiration for the audacious,
Madame V—
